Project description

To create a better user experience for users in the new (next generation) service for the Sales Order page. The scope of the project was to re-design the interface and improve the usability. The page hold many complex features and a lot of information.

In this project I was the responsible UX designer and my team was a standard scrum team including developers, a tester, service owner and team manager.

Work process

The project started with a thorough research where both external users and internal users were interviewed and shown prototypes. Internal users are typically persons working within support/customer success or partners. The partners have close contact with the end users and know a lot about their pains and needs.
In this first research part I worked closely with a UX researcher and another UX designer to help brainstorm ideas. The design was iterated, tested with users and presented to internal stakeholders.
In June 2023 we launched a MVP (minimum viable product) version of the design together with the possibility for user to give feedback and become part of our user panel.

Challenges

This project requires at least some domain knowledge to fully understand the users and what they need. On top of this the way users work varies a lot. This causes the user needs to be different depending on company size and what type of products they sell.
The ‘Sales Order’ page contains a lot of information, displayed in many different ways and elements. It was a challenge keeping the design simple without loosing any important information.
