Svensk Travsport
Responsive design, Customer journey, Requirement analysis
Feb 2018 - Aug 2019
Project description
To create a new graphic and structural design for the website of Svensk Travsport (ST). The major improvement was to make the site responsive and also to align the design with Svensk Galopp (SG).
Work process
As a UX designer my role was to create smart solutions and concretize them in sketches and wireframes. Together with my team and the client we iterated these in order to reach the best solution. With my experience from requirement analysis and the role of scrum master I aslo supported the client with writing user stories and explaining how to work in Jira.
Challenges
There were two major challenges with the ST project.
First of all the website was very content heavy, lots of information in a weak structure which made it hard for users to find their way around on the site. We recommended the client to think through their site map and to take the chance and remove some layers in order to give the site the face lift it really needed.
Secondly, the site did not only focus on public users. The site had a logged in state which mainly focused on users that are active within trotting. The logged in users had access to many complex functionalities (i.e. billing system) where big changes in design were hard to do without affecting other parts of the system. The design therefore became more of a 1:1 mapping where we had to think MVP (Minimal Valuable Product) and the most important things for the go-live had to be prioritzed over things that could wait till a later release.
WOW factors
A common thing we had to deal with in this project was tables. There were tables all over the site which where very important for the users to access. To fit tables on smaller screens was and will always be a challenge so therefore being able to find a design that fitted the client as well as giving the users the overview and relevant information they need was one of the main things we were extra proud of.
