Site audit - get an expert’s perspective

Site audits are a great way of getting a good idea of what a site or app could improve on from a UX/UI perspective. When working as a consultant this is often a first step before deciding on what to include in a project scope. It gives the customer/client a quick overview of what an expert would recommend on high level. Again, different designers will look at different things but below I have listed what I typically include in an audit. These are things that many companies struggle with getting right and consistent. Also, design trends change over time and what was once a good and cool idea might today feel a bit boring.

Examples of what I look at in general:

  • Color scheme

  • Navigation

  • Site structure

  • Key functions (i.e. search field, menu, etc.)

  • Responsiveness

  • Readability

  • Consistency

  • Elements and icons

  • Overall look and feel with regards to what the customer/client has expressed
